UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Much of the Four Freedoms Trail in northern Florida lies on the former Georgia & Florida Railroad right-of-way. The 12.3 mile paved trail travels north from the town of Madison to the Withlacoochee River at the Georgia-Florida border and is mostly rural in nature.

About 135 miles southwest of Savannah, rural Douglas has successfully transformed its railroad line, a former economic generator, into a multi-use trail. Built atop the bed of the old Georgia & Florida Railroad, the 5+mile trail serves as a transportation corridor and recreational hub for the town's 15,000 residents.

Construction has commenced on Phase One of the Georgia & Florida Trail in August 2024
